Foodica – FAQ

This article refers to Foodica (PRO)

Quick answers to the questions we’re asked most often about Foodica.

How do I change the summary text shown for a post?

Each post has an Excerpt field in the editor sidebar. Whatever you write there is used in the slider, homepage listing and archives. Leave it empty and the theme uses the first words of the post instead — the length is set by Excerpt length in WPZOOM → Theme Options → General → Homepage Posts.

How many posts show on the homepage?

That’s a WordPress setting: Settings → Reading → Blog pages show at most.

How do I show my recipes in 3 or 4 columns?

Set Posts Style to Grid and pick a Grid Columns value in Theme Options → General → Homepage Posts. See Post Styles, Layouts & Columns.

Why do all my thumbnails look cropped differently?

Grid layouts crop thumbnails to a shared shape set by Image Aspect Ratio (Landscape, Portrait or Square). If you’d rather show images exactly as uploaded on single posts, turn off Keep Featured Image Original Aspect Ratio? in Single Post Options.

How do I feature one recipe at the top of the homepage?

Mark it as sticky — see How to Make a Sticky (Featured) Post.

My featured post isn’t showing in the slider

Sliders exclude sticky posts. If a post is marked Stick to the top of the blog, it appears as the large featured post instead of in the slider.

Do I need a plugin for recipe cards?

Yes — recipe cards come from a recipe plugin, not the theme. See How to Add Recipe Cards.

Can I make single posts narrower so they’re easier to read?

Yes. For posts shown without a sidebar, use Content Width (Full-Width Posts) in Single Post Options — Narrow (750px) matches the reading width of the sidebar layout.

How do I add an affiliate disclosure to every post?

Enter it once as the Global Disclosure Statement — see How to Add an Affiliate Disclosure.

My site feels slow

Recipe blogs are image- and ad-heavy, so this is common. Start with PageSpeed & Core Web Vitals Recommendations and Recommended Image Sizes & Optimizations.

Something looks broken after an update

Clear the cache in your caching or optimization plugin first — that resolves most post-update display issues. If it persists, check Known Issues & Fixes.
