Much of a Foodica site is assembled from widgets — the homepage sections, the sidebar, the footer and the Instagram bar. Manage them in Appearance → Widgets.
Since WordPress 5.8 widget areas are edited with blocks, so you can use any block (Image, Paragraph, Latest Posts…) alongside Foodica’s own widgets. Prefer the old drag-and-drop screen? The free Classic Widgets plugin restores it.
Foodica registers 19 widget areas — more than most themes, because the homepage is widget-driven.
Homepage:
Homepage (Below the Slideshow) — a full-width band right under the slider.
Homepage (Below the Slider) 1/3 · 2/3 · 3/3 Column — the three columns under the slideshow; made for the WPZOOM: Image Box widget.
Homepage: Featured Categories — category sections further down the page.
Posts and pages:
Single Post (before content) and Single Post (after content) — appear on every post; good for a newsletter box, an author bio, or related content.
Footer Disclosure — a slim area for an affiliate or sponsorship notice.
Sidebars:
Sidebar — beside your posts wherever a sidebar layout is active.
Sidebar (hamburger) — the sliding panel opened by the hamburger button. Since Foodica 5.1 this panel works even with no widgets in it: it automatically shows your Primary or Mobile menu.
Recipe Index Sidebar — shown instead of the main sidebar on Recipe Index pages.
WooCommerce Sidebar — used on shop and product pages when WooCommerce is active.
WPZOOM: Tabs Widget Area — holds the contents of the tabbed sidebar box; each widget here becomes a tab.
Instagram Bar — the full-width strip above the footer.
Footer: Column 1–4 — the footer columns.
Foodica’s own widgets
Find these in the block inserter when editing a widget area:
Featured Category (Homepage) and Featured Category (Sidebar) — show recent posts from one category, styled for each placement.
WPZOOM: Image Box — an image with a title and link; made for the three columns under the slideshow.
WPZOOM: Carousel Slider — a scrollable row of posts.
WPZOOM: Recent Posts — a compact list with thumbnails.
WPZOOM: Author Bio — a photo-and-bio box, popular in food-blog sidebars.
WPZOOM: Tabs — a tabbed box combining several post lists in a small space.

The Popular Recipes widgets
Two widgets rank your posts by popularity, each using a different signal:
Popular Recipes (Comment Count) — ranks by number of comments.
Popular Recipes (View Count) — ranks by the theme’s own view counter, with filters for This Week, This Month or all time.
The view counter is built into the theme; no analytics plugin is needed. Since Foodica 5.2.3 it counts each visitor once per 24 hours rather than on every page refresh, ignores logged-in editors and bots, and works correctly on sites using a full-page caching plugin — so the rankings reflect real readers.
