WordPress Block Themes

Explore our best WordPress block themes, free and PRO, built for Full Site Editing. Edit your header, footer, page templates, colors, and typography visually in the Site Editor, without code or a page builder. A WordPress block theme is built entirely from blocks, which is why these are also called FSE or Gutenberg block themes.

  • Block Theme Anchor - fast and simple WooCommerce theme

  • These are true block themes, built for the WordPress Site Editor

A new generation of WordPress themes: instead of PHP templates and a Customizer, everything (header, footer, page templates, colors, and typography) is made of blocks you edit visually in the Site Editor. Activating a block theme unlocks its full toolkit: templates, template parts, global styles, and block patterns.

    • Full Site Editing: edit your header, footer, and every template right in the editor. Headers and footers are template parts, so you change them once and they update everywhere.
    • Global styles: site-wide colors, fonts, and spacing from one panel. They live in the theme’s theme.json file, which is why a style variation can restyle the whole site in one click.
    • Block patterns and style variations: ready-made sections and looks, one click.
    • Lean by design: no page builder needed, so pages stay fast.

Not sure you need a block theme? Every WPZOOM theme works with the block editor for posts and pages, and classic themes like Inspiro and Foodica ship 25 dedicated block-editor demos. Block themes go one step further by making the whole site, not just its content, editable with blocks. Compare classic and block themes.

Classic themes with ready-made block designs

Not a block theme, but close: each of these classic themes ships with demos built for the WordPress block editor. Import a design in one click, then edit every page with blocks, while keeping the theme options panel, Customizer, and page-builder compatibility.

What’s the difference? Pages and posts are blocks; the header, footer, and global settings are still managed the classic way, not in the Site Editor.

Classic vs Block

Classic or block: which theme type is right for you?

A block theme is built entirely from blocks. Its header, footer, page templates, colors and typography all live in the WordPress Site Editor, so you design the whole site the same way you write a post. A classic theme keeps those parts in PHP templates and the Customizer, and pairs with page builders like Elementor for layout. The Site Editor only works with block themes; classic themes can’t use it.

Neither is “better”. Block themes are leaner and fully native. Classic themes are the safer pick if you rely on a page builder, specific plugins, or a workflow your team already knows.

Classic theme Block theme
Site design Customizer, widgets & theme options Site Editor — everything is a block
Page builders Elementor, Beaver Builder & more Native block editor only
Colors & fonts Theme options panel Global Styles & style variations
Speed Depends on the builder you add Lean by default, no builder needed
Best for Builder workflows, established sites New sites, native WordPress fans

Block Themes Packed
with Unique Features

Each of our themes comes with an intuitive and easy-to-use theme options panel that allows you to configure and customize your site without ever looking at code.

Full Site Editing (FSE) Support

Take full control of your site’s design with Full Site Editing. Headers, footers, and content areas are template parts and templates you edit directly in the Site Editor, so a change to the header applies to every page at once. No coding needed.

Block-Based Layouts

Build flexible, custom layouts with blocks. Block patterns give you ready-made sections such as hero areas, pricing tables, and testimonials. Style variations switch the whole look in one click, and global styles set site-wide colors, fonts, and spacing. All of it is defined in the theme’s theme.json file, which is how block-based themes stay consistent without editing theme files.

Performance Optimization

Block themes are lean by default. Styles come from global styles and WordPress’s own block styles, so the theme doesn’t load a stylesheet of its own, and there are no page builder scripts to slow things down. Your pages stay fast.

WooCommerce support

WooCommerce Compatibility

Our PRO block themes work with WooCommerce, and Anchor is built for it. On a block theme, WooCommerce’s Site Editor tools let you customize product, cart, and checkout pages visually, no code required. That isn’t possible on a classic theme. If you need a WooCommerce block theme, start with Anchor, or browse all our WooCommerce themes.

Easy to Use for Both Beginners and Experts

All of our WordPress block themes come with an easy-to-use Theme Options Panel.

Which WordPress Block Theme
Should You Choose?

The best block theme depends on what your site has to do. Every theme here is edited in the Site Editor and ships with block patterns and color styles. The differences are which templates come pre-built, how deep the WooCommerce support goes, and whether you start free.

WordPress Block Theme FAQs

  • What is a WordPress block theme?

A WordPress block theme is a theme built entirely from blocks. Its header, footer, templates, colors, and typography are all edited in the Site Editor, the same way you edit a post, instead of in PHP files and the Customizer. Block themes are also called Full Site Editing (FSE) themes or Gutenberg block themes. Every theme in the first grid above is one.

  • What is the difference between a block theme and a classic theme?

A classic theme stores its layout in PHP templates and is customized through the Customizer, widgets, and theme options, usually with a page builder for layouts. A block theme stores everything as blocks and is edited in the Site Editor, with template parts for the header and footer and global styles for colors and fonts. Take the quiz if you're not sure which fits you.

  • Do I need a page builder like Elementor with a block theme?

No. A block theme uses the block editor and block patterns for layouts, so there is nothing for Elementor to do, and skipping the builder is part of why block themes load faster. If your team already works in Elementor, choose one of the classic themes above; each ships with block-editor demos and works with Elementor and Beaver Builder.

  • Are WPZOOM's block themes free?

Some are. Inspiro Blocks, UniBlock, and EduBlock are free, and each has a PRO version with the demo importer, premium page templates, more patterns, and header and footer layouts. PRO block themes are $69 a year, covering unlimited sites with a year of support and updates, with a lifetime license available and a 14-day money-back guarantee. The All Themes Pack is $99 a year for every WPZOOM theme.

  • Do block themes work with WooCommerce?

Yes. Our PRO block themes support WooCommerce, and Anchor is built for it as a WooCommerce block theme with store templates included. On a block theme, you customize product, cart, and checkout pages visually with WooCommerce's own store editing tools. Inspiro Blocks, the free theme, supports WooCommerce too.

  • Can I switch from a classic theme to a block theme without losing content?

Yes. Posts, pages, media, and plugins stay in place when you activate a block theme. Widget areas and Customizer settings don't carry over, so plan to rebuild the header, footer, and menus in the Site Editor. Test on a staging site first and import the demo content there.

  • Are these themes compatible with the latest WordPress version?

Yes. We check every theme against each new WordPress release and update it when needed, so our block themes keep working with the latest version of WordPress. Updates are free while your license is active, and each theme's page lists its current compatibility range.

  • Is a block theme the same as an FSE theme or a Gutenberg theme?

Yes. They are three names for the same thing: a theme built for Full Site Editing, which arrived with the Gutenberg project. Hybrid themes such as Astra or Kadence are different. They are classic themes with block editor support, so the Site Editor is not available with them. If a theme's header and footer are edited in the Site Editor, it's a block theme.

  • How do I customize a block theme without a child theme?

Use style variations and global styles in the Site Editor. Your changes are saved with your site, not in the theme files, so theme updates don't overwrite them. Every PRO block theme also includes a child theme if you want to add custom code.
