OriginMag has a very well structured homepage made up from 3 main sections: Slideshow, Featured Categories and Recent Posts.
The area below the Slideshow is a widgetized zone, and we developed a custom “Featured Category” widget, so you can display as many categories you want. You can also insert any other widgets in that area or use it for displaying your ads.
Different styles
The layout of Homepage is not limited only to the one you see in the demo. From Theme Options you can change the position and size of Slideshow from a full-width one located at the top, to a smaller one located in the main column.
Posts from the homepage and archive pages can also have different styling: grid or list view.

The Slideshow from homepage is not limited just to images and text. You can also display video in it too:

As you may already noticed, it becomes a tradition for us to include a mobile layout in our latest themes, so we haven’t hesitated to make this theme responsive too:
