Setting Up the MailChimp Integration

This article refers to WPZOOM Forms

WPZOOM Forms PRO can connect to Mailchimp so you can automatically subscribe people who submit your form to a Mailchimp audience (list). The setup has two parts:

  1. Connect your Mailchimp account in the plugin settings.
  2. Enable Mailchimp for the specific form(s) you want to use.

Before proceeding with the setup, you’ll need a Mailchimp account with at least one Audience (list) and a Mailchimp API key.

Step 1: Connect WPZOOM Forms to Mailchimp

1. Go to WPZOOM Forms → Settings.

2. Open the Integrations tab.

3. In the Mailchimp section, paste your API Key.

4. Click Connect to Mailchimp.

After a successful connection, you’ll see a Connected status and a table with Your Audiences.

5. Click Save Settings.

Manage the connection

  • Refresh Lists: Updates the audience list displayed in the table (useful after you create a new audience in Mailchimp).
  • Disconnect: Removes the connection to your Mailchimp account.

Step 2: Enable Mailchimp for a form

Mailchimp is enabled per form, from the form editor.

1. Go to WPZOOM Forms → All Forms and create a new form or edit the form you want to connect.
See more: Creating a New Form

2. In the editor sidebar, open the Form tab.

3. In the right sidebar of the editor, expand the Mailchimp panel.

4. Check Enable Mailchimp for this form.

Once Mailchimp is enabled, you can configure three important options:

Form behavior

Choose how Mailchimp should work alongside your form’s submission method:

  • Keep Form Method settings (DB save, email, etc.)
Uses your existing form submission method settings, and also subscribes the user to Mailchimp.
  • Mailchimp only (skip DB save and email)
Subscribes the user to Mailchimp only, without saving the submission to the database or sending notification emails.

Select audience

Under Select Audience, choose the Mailchimp audience (list) that should receive the subscribers.

If you don’t see the audience you need, go to WPZOOM Forms → Settings → Integrations and click Refresh Lists.

Subscription mode

Controls when the subscriber is added to Mailchimp:

  • Always subscribe (every submission)
Subscribes everyone who submits the form.
  • Conditional (only when the checkbox is checked)
Subscribes users only if they explicitly opt in via a checkbox field (for example, “Subscribe to our newsletter”).

Using a newsletter signup template (optional)

If you want a quick starting point, you can choose a ready-made template such as Newsletter Signup, which is designed for Mailchimp integration.

Tips and troubleshooting

  • Can’t connect to Mailchimp: Re-check that the API key is correct and try connecting again.
  • Audience dropdown is empty: Confirm the account has at least one audience, then click Refresh Lists in Settings → Integrations.
  • Conditional subscription doesn’t work: Make sure your form includes a checkbox field that users can check to opt in.
  • No email/DB entries are saved: Verify you didn’t select Mailchimp only (skip DB save and email) if you still need submissions stored or emailed.
