Videozoom — Setting Up the Homepage

This article refers to Videozoom

The Videozoom homepage is made of three parts, from top to bottom: the Featured Slider, the Recent Posts section, and an optional Sidebar with widgets. This article shows how each part is configured.

Homepage structure

Videozoom displays its homepage automatically — keep Settings → Reading set to “Your homepage displays: Your latest posts” (this is the WordPress default, and the demo importer configures it for you).

The slider at the top shows posts marked Feature on Homepage — it’s covered in detail in The Featured Slider.

Recent Posts section

Below the slider, the theme lists your latest video posts. Configure this section in WPZOOM → Theme Options → Homepage, under Homepage Settings:

  • Display Recent Posts on Homepage — turn the whole section on or off.
  • Title for Recent Posts — the section heading. Default: Recent Videos.

The layout of the posts (grid or list, thumbnails, excerpts, and the visitor-facing toggle) is controlled from Theme Options → General → Global Posts Options — see Grid & List Layouts.

Two options in Homepage Settings control what appears in the Recent Posts loop:

  • Exclude categories — check any categories that shouldn’t appear on the homepage (for example, a “News” category you only want on the blog page).
  • Hide Featured Posts in Recent Posts? — enabled by default, so posts already showing in the slider don’t repeat right below it.

Sidebar and homepage widgets

  • Show the Sidebar on Homepage and Archives? — when enabled, the Sidebar widget area appears next to the Recent Posts section. Disable it for a full-width homepage.
  • The Homepage: Content Widgets area lets you add extra sections below the Recent Posts — see Widgets & Widget Areas.

How many posts show on the homepage?

The homepage uses the global WordPress setting:

  1. Go to Settings → Reading.
  2. Change Blog pages show at most to the number of posts you want.

Tip: to change the text shown for a post in listings, use the post’s Excerpt field — otherwise the theme picks the first words of the content automatically (default: 50, adjustable in Theme Options → General → Global Posts Options → Excerpt length).
