The featured slider is the centerpiece of the Videozoom homepage. In version 5.0 it was rebuilt on the modern Swiper library with touch/mouse dragging and a new full-width Cinematic style. This article shows how to add posts to the slider and configure it.
Edit the post you want to feature (or create a new one — see Adding Video Posts).
In the Post Options metabox, check Feature on Homepage.
Update the post.
The slide shows the post’s video (or its Featured Image), the title, the date and category, and the excerpt. To change the slide text, edit the post’s Excerpt field — otherwise the theme uses the first words of the content.
Cinematic vs. Classic slider style
Choose the slider design in WPZOOM → Theme Options → General → Theme Settings → Slider Style:
Cinematic(default) — a full-width slider that uses a blurred version of the featured image as the backdrop, with the video and text overlaid on top.
Classic — the boxed design from previous versions, with the video displayed next to the text.
Slider settings
Fine-tune the slider in WPZOOM → Theme Options → Homepage, under Slider Settings:
Enable the featured slider — turn the slider on or off entirely.
Number of Featured Posts — how many featured posts the slider loads (default: 12).
Autoplay slider + Autoplay Interval — automatic rotation, off by default. The interval is in milliseconds (default: 3000 = 3 seconds).
Slideshow Effect — Slide or Fade transition.
Pause slider on hover — stop the rotation while the mouse is over the slider.
Slider Meta — show or hide the Date, Category, and the Read More button on slides.
Tip: keep Autoplay off if your featured posts contain videos, so the slider never rotates away while someone is watching.
The thumbnail rail
In the Editorial style, a draggable thumbnail rail with 16:9 previews and captions appears below the slider — visitors can swipe or drag through it (on mobile too) and jump straight to any featured video:
The rail is part of the Editorial style and appears automatically; the classic styles show arrow navigation instead.
Good to know
The slider appears only on the homepage and only when at least one published post is marked Feature on Homepage.
Posts shown in the slider are hidden from the Recent Posts section below it by default (Theme Options → Homepage → Hide Featured Posts in Recent Posts?).
Slider assets load only on pages that display the slider, so it adds no weight to the rest of your site.
