Tribune’s homepage works with your latest posts (keep Settings → Reading on “Your latest posts”). The front page combines the featured area, a widget column, and the Recent Posts loop.
Homepage structure
From top to bottom:
The header with the current date under the logo, then the main menu and the Breaking News Bar.
The featured area: the Featured Slider with the Featured Area widget area next to it (the demo’s Latest News column) and the Sidebar (the demo’s Most Commented / Most Viewed tabs — the WPZOOM: Tabs widget).
An optional Homepage Ad banner below the featured area (see Banner Ads).
The Homepage widget area — stack WPZOOM: Featured Category widgets here to build magazine sections, with Custom HTML widgets between them for ads.
The Recent Posts section (your latest posts loop).
Recent Posts options
In WPZOOM → Theme Options → Homepage → Recent Posts you can turn the section on/off, change its title, exclude categories, and hide posts already in the slider:
The number of posts comes from Settings → Reading → Blog pages show at most.
Listing display options
Theme Options → General → Global Posts Options controls the post listings — the featured image (with custom width/height in pixels), excerpt and its length, category, date, author, comments count, and the Read More button:
