Social Icons Widget PRO – Activate your License Key

This article refers to Social Icons Widget PRO

A valid license key is required to receive automatic plugin updates for Social Icons Widget PRO. This guide explains how to find your license key, activate it, and troubleshoot common issues.

1. Where to Find your License Key

Your license key is available in the WPZOOM Members Area:

  1. Log in at wpzoom.com/account/licenses/.
  2. Locate the Social Icons Widget PRO entry in your list of purchases.
  3. Copy the 32-character license key shown next to it.

2. Entering and Activating the License

Follow these steps to activate the license on your WordPress site.

Step 1: Open the License Key page

In your WordPress admin, navigate to:

Sharing Buttons > License Key

You will see a text input for your license key. If no key has been entered yet, a yellow warning notice will read: “Please enter your license key.”

Step 2: Paste your license key

Click the License Key input field and paste the 32-character key you copied from the WPZOOM Members Area. Then click the Save button to store the key.

Step 3: Activate the license

After saving, an Activate button appears next to the Save button. Click Activate to register the license on your website.

Once activation succeeds, you will see a green success notice confirming that the license is active, along with your expiry date or “Lifetime License” if applicable. The input field becomes read-only and the action buttons are replaced by a single Deactivate button.

3. License Status Messages Explained

After activation (or on subsequent visits to the License Key page), the plugin checks your license status with the WPZOOM server and displays one of the following notices:

StatusNotice StyleMessage
ValidGreen (success)“License key is active.” — followed by the expiry date or “Lifetime License.”
ExpiredRed (error)“License key expired [date].” — includes a “Renew?” link to the WPZOOM checkout page.
InvalidRed (error)“License key does not match.” — the key you entered is not recognized.
InactiveRed (error)“License is inactive.” — click Activate to activate it on this site.
Site InactiveRed (error)“This license is inactive on this website.” — click Activate to register this particular site.
DisabledRed (error)“License key is disabled.” — contact WPZOOM support for assistance.
No key enteredYellow (warning)“Please enter your license key.”

4. How to Deactivate the License

You may want to deactivate the license if you are moving the plugin to a different site or no longer need updates on this installation.

  1. Go to Social Icon Sets > License Key.
  2. Click the Deactivate button (red).
  3. The license will be released from this site. The input field becomes editable again so you can enter a different key or re-activate the same one.

5. Troubleshooting

“License key does not match”

  • Double-check that you copied the full 32-character key without extra spaces.
  • Make sure you are using the license key for Social Icons Widget PRO, not a different WPZOOM product.

“License key expired”

  • Click the Renew? link shown in the error notice to visit the WPZOOM renewal page.
  • After renewing, return to Sharing Buttons > License Key and click Activate again.

“This license is inactive on this website”

  • This means the key is valid but has not been activated on the current domain. Click Activate to register it.

The Activate button does not appear

  • Make sure you click Save first after pasting your key. The Activate button only appears once the key has been saved.

Updates are not showing up

  • Verify that the license status shows as “active” (green notice) on the License Key page.
  • Go to Dashboard > Updates and click Check Again to force WordPress to check for plugin updates.
  • If your license is active but updates still do not appear, temporarily deactivate and then re-activate the license to refresh the connection.

Connection errors

  • The license check requires your server to communicate with wpzoom.com. If you see “Error checking license,” make sure outgoing HTTPS connections are not blocked by your hosting provider or a firewall plugin.

6. Migrating from a Previous Version

If you are upgrading from version 2.1.x or earlier, your license key will be migrated automatically. In previous versions, the license key was stored on the Settings page. Starting with version 2.2.0, the license has its own dedicated page at Sharing Buttos > License Key.

The first time the updated plugin loads, it transfers your existing license key to the new location and removes it from the old Settings page. No action is required on your part — the migration happens silently in the background. If the key was already active, it will remain active after the migration.
