Reel – Adding Portfolio Posts

This article refers to Reel

Portfolio posts are custom post types integrated into the Inspiro theme. They allow you to create portfolio galleries with all the theme’s portfolio features.

This tutorial covers how to create portfolio posts and set up their available options.

1. Creating a Portfolio Post

To create a new portfolio post, go to Portfolio → Add New in your WordPress dashboard. After this, configure the following options:

1. Add a Title

Enter a title for your portfolio post. This title will be displayed in portfolio galleries and on single portfolio post pages.

2. Add Post Content (Optional)

Use the post editor to add text, images, embedded videos, galleries, or other media to describe the project. This content appears in the single portfolio post view and provides additional context about your work.

Set a featured image that will serve as the portfolio thumbnail across the website. This image will also be displayed at the top of the single portfolio post page.

4. Assign a Portfolio Category

Just like blog posts, portfolio posts can be categorized. Categories help organize projects into different types or themes. These categories will enable filtering posts on the portfolio page or section.

  • Assign categories directly in the portfolio post editor.
  • Or go to Portfolio → Categories to create and manage categories.

5. Set Project Details (Optional)

In the Project Details section, you can add custom fields to highlight important information about your project, such as:

  • Director
  • Year of Production

2. Adjust Video Settings

Reel includes special video features for portfolio posts, found in the Video Settings section under the post editor.

💡 Note: If you want to create a gallery with only static images, skip adding videos in any of the following tabs.

Video Lightbox

This feature allows the portfolio thumbnail to open a popup video when clicking the Play icon.

How to Enable:

In the Video Lightbox tab, paste the YouTube/Vimeo URL or upload a self-hosted MP4 file.

Upload an MP4 video or insert a direct link to a hosted video file.

💡 Recommended Video Settings for Self-Hosted Videos:

  • Keep file size small (5-20MB) for fast loading on mobile data connections.
  • Format: MP4 with H.264 encoding (Use Handbrake for resizing/conversion).

Paste a public URL of a YouTube or Vimeo video.

Examples of valid video URLs:

Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/295116835
YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uvNw15W_EK8

Note: Shortened URLs or URLs with additional query parameters may not work.
