Prime News — Widgets & Widget Areas

Prime News has fifteen widget areas and a full set of magazine widgets. Manage them in Appearance → Widgets.

Widget areas

Header & featured area:

• Header Bar — the strip above the logo (the demo’s recent-posts carousel, via WPZOOM: Carousel Slider).
• Header Social Icons — the icons next to the logo (Social Icons Widget by WPZOOM).
• Left of Slider / Right of Slider — the columns beside the slideshow.
• Sidebar (hamburger) — the sliding panel opened by the hamburger button.

Homepage sections: Featured Categories (Homepage), (Above Recent Posts), (Below Recent Posts), and the Dark Section (Homepage) — see Featured Categories & Homepage Sections.

Site-wide: Sidebar (on the right), Footer: Column 1–4, and the Footer Instagram Bar (use the Instagram Widget by WPZOOM plugin).

• Featured Category and Featured Categories (2 columns) — the homepage sections.

• WPZOOM: Recent Posts — a compact recent-posts list.
• WPZOOM: Most Commented — posts ranked by comment count.
• WPZOOM: Most Viewed — posts ranked by the built-in views counter (see below).
• WPZOOM: Tabs — a tabbed box combining several post lists.

The views counter

Prime News counts post views itself — no plugin needed — and the Most Viewed widget ranks posts by them. Since version 1.0.16 the counter is accurate and cache-proof: each visitor counts once per 24 hours per post, editors and bots are ignored, and counting works with full-page caching plugins. On a new site the widget shows a short notice until views accumulate.
