Inspiro Premium is the flagship theme developed by WPZOOM—originally designed as a portfolio theme, it has since evolved into a full-featured multipurpose WordPress theme. Today, it’s used by agencies, creatives, small businesses, and online stores thanks to its powerful features, flexibility, and support for both Elementor and the Block Editor.
Over the years, different versions of Inspiro have been introduced to support new WordPress technologies and user preferences. This article helps clarify the differences between them and explains why Inspiro Premium remains the most complete and recommended version.
The best way to understand the difference between Inspiro versions is to look at the theme’s chronological evolution:
August 2014 — Inspiro is released as a premium theme, focused on creative portfolios. It included built-in slideshow and portfolio features and quickly became one of WPZOOM’s most popular products.
April 2021 — Inspiro Lite is introduced as a free version of the theme. It offers basic features and Elementor support, allowing users to get started with a minimal setup and upgrade to a premium experience later. Inspiro Lite is also listed on WordPress.org to make the theme accessible to a wider audience.
August 2021 — Inspiro PRO is launched as a streamlined version of Inspiro, focused on performance and ease of use. It was designed with Elementor integration in mind, featuring a lighter framework and new demo templates, while maintaining core features like the slideshow and portfolio. Inspiro PRO also supports the Block Editor, though it does not include pre-built templates for it.
September 2021 — Elementor integration is added to Inspiro Premium, expanding its flexibility and aligning it with modern workflows. New Elementor-based demo templates are included alongside the existing features, making Inspiro Premium a more complete and powerful option.
April 2023 — Inspiro Blocks and Inspiro Blocks PRO are released in response to the growing adoption of the Block Editor and Full Site Editing (FSE) in WordPress. These versions allow users to edit every part of their website—including headers, footers, and templates—using native WordPress tools, without the need for a page builder plugin.
Inspiro Lite
A free, entry-level version of Inspiro designed to help users launch a basic website. It supports Elementor and includes essential features such as a homepage video background. Ideal for beginners, hobbyists, and anyone testing the theme before upgrading.
Inspiro Premium
The most powerful and feature-complete version of Inspiro. It includes built-in slideshow and portfolio functionality, video background on hover, advanced customization options, and support for Elementor and the Block Editor. Inspiro Premium also comes with a wide selection of starter sites for both Elementor and the block editor. This version is best suited for professional creatives, agencies, and businesses looking for flexibility and performance.
Inspiro PRO
A lightweight version of the theme with a cleaner structure and exclusive demo templates for Elementor. It was developed to provide an alternative for users seeking simplicity and optimized performance. While it also supports the Block Editor, it does not include demo templates built for blocks. Inspiro PRO may be a good choice for experienced users who want to build layouts from scratch using Elementor.
Inspiro Blocks / Inspiro Blocks PRO
These versions are fully compatible with the WordPress Full Site Editing (FSE) system, introduced alongside the block editor as the new standard for WordPress theme development. With Inspiro Blocks, you can customize global templates, headers, footers, and more—all using native blocks. This version is ideal for users who want full control and prefer working with the modern WordPress interface without relying on external page builders.

The core difference lies in the design of the included starter sites. Inspiro Premium and Inspiro PRO each come with their own set of demo templates. You can view them here:
Both themes share similar functionalities, but Inspiro Premium includes more advanced options and wider builder support.
You can deactivate one version and activate another at any time. Here’s how content behaves when switching:
Note: You cannot import starter sites from one Inspiro version into another. Each version has its own set of demo templates and is not cross-compatible.
Inspiro Blocks PRO is built specifically for Full Site Editing and offers the most flexibility for users working with the Block Editor.
Inspiro Premium also supports the Block Editor but is not a block-based (FSE) theme.
No, Elementor is not required to use Inspiro Premium. The theme works seamlessly with both the Block Editor and Elementor, allowing you to choose the builder that best fits your workflow.
However, if you want to use a specific starter site that’s available only for Elementor, you will need to have Elementor installed. These starter sites are marked with the Elementor logo in the Starter Sites section. All other starter sites are compatible with the Block Editor or both editors.
Yes! You can start with Inspiro Lite, the free version of the theme. It includes basic features and a few starter sites. You can upgrade to Inspiro Premium later without losing your content.
Yes. Inspiro PRO shares most of the core features found in Inspiro Premium, including the built-in slideshow, portfolio post type, and video background support. This is because Inspiro PRO was originally derived from Inspiro Premium.
The main difference lies in the design of the included starter sites and a few exclusive design options that are only available in Inspiro PRO. While functionality is largely the same, the templates and visual style differ between the two themes.
