Foodica – Custom 404 (Not Found) Page

When a visitor hits a URL that doesn’t exist — an old recipe link, a typo, a broken link from another site — WordPress shows a 404 (Not Found) page. Foodica lets you replace the default with a page you design yourself.

Setting your own 404 page

Create and publish a normal page with whatever you want visitors to see — a friendly message, a search box, your most popular recipes, a link back to the recipe index.
Go to WPZOOM → Theme Options → General → Error 404 Page.
Choose your page from the Custom 404 Page dropdown.
Save the options.

Its content is then displayed inside the theme’s 404 layout whenever someone reaches a missing URL. If the page you choose uses the Full-width Page template, the sidebar is dropped automatically.

Leave the setting on — select a page — to keep the default 404 layout, which shows a search box and your latest posts.

What to put on it

A 404 page is a chance to rescue a lost visitor rather than lose them:

A short, friendly explanation that the page has moved or no longer exists.
A search box — often the fastest route to what they wanted.
Links to your recipe index or most popular categories.
Your newsletter signup, if you have one.

Tip: if visitors are landing on 404s from old recipe URLs you’ve since renamed, a redirect plugin is the better fix — a good 404 page is the safety net, not the solution.
