The slideshow on the Academica Pro homepage can display Featured Posts or Featured Pages. This article shows how to add slides and configure the slideshow’s behavior.
Display Slideshow on Homepage? — turn the slideshow on or off.
Content Source — Featured Posts (default) or Featured Pages. Slides are ordered by date.
Autoplay Slideshow? + Slider Autoplay Interval — automatic rotation, off by default; the interval is in milliseconds (default 3000 = 3 seconds).
Number of Posts/Pages in Slider — default 5.
Display Date/Time, Display Excerpt, Display Read More Button — the elements shown on each slide.
Featuring a post
With Content Source set to Featured Posts:
Edit the post you want in the slideshow.
In the Post Options box, check Feature in Homepage Slider.
Make sure the post has a Featured Image — that’s the slide background.
Update the post.
Featured posts link to their own post page.
Featuring pages (with a custom link & button)
Switch Content Source to Featured Pages and a Homepage Slideshow box appears when editing pages. Besides the Feature in Homepage Slider checkbox, pages get two extras:
Slide URL — where the slide links (any page on your site, or an external URL).
Button Title + Button URL — an optional call-to-action button on the slide (like Apply Now in the demo).
This makes Featured Pages the better choice for promo slides — admissions, open days, program announcements.
Slide images and text
The slide image is the post’s or page’s Featured Image. Recommended sizes: 947×500px for the default layout, 1270×500px if you use the Homepage (Slider at the top) template.
The slide text comes from the Excerpt field — otherwise the theme picks the first words of the content automatically.
