Our first WordCamp sponsorship in-person: reporting on WordCamp Bucharest 2017

This weekend was the second year running of WordCamp Bucharest, and our the first time we’ve sponsored a WordCamp in-person. It was also a chance for the whole of the WPZOOM European team to meet up.

WPZOOM has been selling premium WordPress themes since 2009. Half the team is based in Chisinau, Moldova, with the rest distributed globally – I work remotely part-time from the UK.

With no WordCamp in Chisinau (although we’ve recently started a meetup here), WordCamp Bucharest is effectively our “home” WordCamp. We didn’t make it last year, but this year wanted to attend, sponsor, and take the opportunity to get all the Europe-based team in one place. Continue Reading

What’s coming in WordPress 4.8? And what does it mean for the future of WordPress?

WordPress 4.8 is the first major release (or, “update to WordPress”) of 2017 and the first since WordPress co-founder and Automattic CEO Matt Mullenweg announced a new direction for releases: the previous directive of three major releases per year is out, and a new feature-focussed release schedule is in, with no goal for the number of releases per year and instead releases going out whenever they’re ready.

Yet, WordPress 4.8 isn’t a big feature-focussed release. Instead, it’s comparatively minor update which introduces a handful of new features and paves the way for future features.

ZOOM Framework 1.6.0 Released

Today we’re happy to announce the addition of a very useful feature in all of our themes. The new feature is called “Demo Content Importer” and it allows you to install within 1-click the sample content from each theme demo page.

The new feature can be accessed from the Import/Export menu in the Theme Options Page after updating to ZOOM Framework 1.6.0.
